Thanks to advanced composite construction, the EV-9 weighs only 2480 lbs.,
one of the lightest vehicles
available today. for comparison, a Smart car
weighs about 1750 lbs.
The standard wheels on the
EV-9 are forged alloys and
measure 18 x 8.5" front and
18 x 10" rear. The tires are
225/35WR-18 and 285/30WR-18 ultra-high
performance radials.
The battery pack of the EV-9
weighs 1348 lbs. A comparable pack made of lead-acid batteries would weigh over 2400 lbs.!
The EV-9 will accelerate to
60mph from a standstill in under 3.5 seconds. Only a handful of cars in the world
are quicker ( and cost a great deal more! )
The EV-9 can store an amazing 69.2 kw/ hrs. of energy in its battery pack, by far the most of any production EV to date. The Tesla is rated at 53.9 kw/hours.
Utilizing mass centralization, whereby the
heaviest components are located as close to the centerline of the vehicle as possible, the EV-9 achieves perfect 50/50 weight distribution and an extremely low center
of gravity.
In spirited driving, the EV-9 will travel approximately
250 miles before needing
a recharge.

Only the best components go into a Speed EV-9!!!
The Elithion BMS is the standard on-board
battery monitoring system. Each of the EV-9s 108 cells are continuosly monitored for safe, efficient charging every time. The Elithion BMS is the only choice for LiFePO4
batteries.
The Manzanita Micro PFC-50A charger comes standard with every EV-9. It will operate on 60-240
volts and will safely charge the EV-9 battery pack in about 5 hours with a 240 volt input.
The Zilla Z2K-EHV is widely regarded as the industry standard motor
contoller. It is fully programmable and will safely handle the EV-9s 345 volts as well as up to 2000 amps.
The true heart of the EV-9 is this specially modified motor designed by Jim Husted. Affectionately known as the
"Jimpulse 11", it is made of two series wound 11" motors siamesed together to produce 332 hp and over 1119 lbs/ft of torque! This exact setup has been proven in thousands of hours of street use and drag racing. It measures approximately 34" long and 11" in diameter and is mounted low in the EV-9 chassis for excellent weight distribution
( where the transmission would be located in a conventional front engine, rear drive automobile ).
The Speed EV-9 uses 108 of the Thundersky LiFePO4 200ah cells. These state of the art
batteries combine to produce
345 volts and can store a staggering 69.2 kw/h. These cells are extremely rugged and reliable and can be recharged
approximately 3000-4000 times before needing replacement.
Each one measures about
12x10x3" and weighs about 12
pounds.
The rear suspension is also a true inboard shock design. Inboard shocks greatly reduce unsprung weight, improving suspension performance. Once again, fully adjustable Koni coilover shocks and Eibach springs are used. The rear differential is a Ford 8.8 unit with a 3.27 ratio. Toe, Caster, and Camber are all fully adjustable.
Now THATS a front suspension! When is the last time
you saw a TRUE inboard shock design on a street car? The front suspension of the EV-9 was designed to offer true racecar handling with a smooth compliant ride. Fully adjustable Koni coil over shocks are used with Eibach springs. Steering is rack and pinion with 2.8 turns lock to
lock. Wilwood four piston calipers and 13" cross drilled rotors ensure reliable, fade-free braking every time.
We are especially proud of our pre-production test mule chassis. Fitted with a Mazda Rotary drivetrain, we used it to extensively test
vehicle dynamics and stability. It was also an invaluable tool for component placement and driver/passenger ergonomics. Note the massive side impact structure composed of 3x2" side rails and 1 5/8 " round lattice designed supporting framework.
